Wakefield | £27,456–£43,014 per annum
Full Time (40 hours/week) – Term Time Only

We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Teacher to join our dedicated team in Barnsley, where we cater to the diverse needs of our pupils with SEND. The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching to small groups and individuals. You will use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support our pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. Collaboration with colleagues and families is key to ensuring each child’s needs are met and they achieve the best possible outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to individual pupil needs

  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly

  • Promote emotional, social, and academic development through trauma-informed methods

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, in line with the school’s behaviour policy

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and external professionals

  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring pupil safety and wellbeing


About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a SEND setting or similar provision

  • Experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours

  • Knowledge of SEND, social-emotional learning, and safeguarding principles

  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable pupils and committed to ongoing professional development


Contract & Benefits

  • Salary: £27,456–£43,014 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

  • Term Time Only: 40 weeks per year (September–July), including 10 mandatory training days
