Job Title: Children’s Support Worker - waking nights (Learning Disabilities)

Location: Woolston, Southampton

Salary: From £27,580 per annum  

Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week working permanent nights.

We are really keen to hear from Night Support Workers ideally with experience of working with young people with learning disabilities and/or autism to work in our Good, Ofsted rated home. 

We are looking for a children's support worker to become part of our loving family home, caring for children and young people who have LD, Autism, ADHD and medical conditions. You would be the person to give encouragement and praise when needed, to be patient and understanding during times of crisis and to inspire them to grow and develop.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • As part of the Waking night position, you will be required to monitor our young people throughout the night and support them with personal care where required.
  • Domestic duties such as cleaning and laundry is also a key aspect of the role.
  • The role can be quite challenging at times as the young people find managing their emotions difficult. We extensively train all of our team to support them during these times.
  • Ensure the young people are safe at night and their home is secure.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience working with children or adults who have learning disabilities, Autism, challenging behaviours and complex needs.
  • Patience, kindness and understanding
  • Excellent communications skills, experience or Makaton or supporting people who have difficulty communicating.
