Job Title: Residential Support Worker - young people
Location: Waterlooville
Salary: From £27,581 per annum PLUS additional £3k - £6k per annum for sleep ins.
Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week working a rolling shift pattern, 2 on 4 off.
Full UK Driving Licence is required
We are looking for a trauma informed support worker to become part of our therapeutic, family home, caring for our young people who have emotional and behavioural difficulties and mental health conditions. You would be the person to give encouragement and praise when needed, to be patient and understanding during times of crisis and to inspire them to grow and develop into young adults.
The role can be emotionally challenging and you could be handling difficult situations BUT you could be the person to change a life for the better.
What do you need?
- Experience in young adult care, mental health, therapeutic models, trauma informed or working with vulnerable people is essential.
- We want people who are naturally caring, flexible and resilient.
- Passionate about supporting young people to lead happy lives.
- Great communication skills, positive and energetic.
- Ability to remain calm during sometimes challenging situations.
- Full UK Driving licence is essential.
- You need to be able to work flexibly. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins

- Act as a professional parent, to to give encouragement and praise.
- Increase independence skills and encourage them to have hobbies and interests.
- Provide emotional and physical support in sometimes challenging situations
- Build friendships and trusting relationships
- Help them to find pleasure in everyday tasks
- Empower them to make decisions about themselves
- Ensure a safe home environment, cleaning, laundry, cooking is part of the job.
