Job Title: Mobile Maintenance Operative

Salary: From £24,960.00 per year depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join us on a full time employed basis helping support and maintain our growing portfolio of Care Homes including Schools, Children’s Residential Homes and Adults Residential Homes in your area.
A full UK drivers’ licence is required as you will be needed to move from site to site. You will be provided a company van, fuel card, phone and tools to ensure you are able to keep the maintenance of our properties at a high standard.
You will be contracted to work 40 hours a week, between 8:30am and 5:30pm, which starts from when you arrive at your first service. You will be responsible for services no more than an hour’s drive from your home.
As a Mobile Maintenance Operative, you will be kept busy and be required to prioritise your own workload. While you will not be asked to re-tile a whole bathroom, re-decorate a new acquisition, or replace the whole pluming system of a home; you will have to refit and fix fire doors, complete repair jobs on damaged walls, fix broken tiles, hang shelves, replace taps, fix minor plumbing issues, and more.
You will be working alongside a friendly and approachable team of people just like you, fully supported by the Facilities Manager and Head of Facilities. On top of this, you will have links to local contractors to complete electrical jobs, gas jobs and large jobs outside the scope of your role. You will also be working closely with Home Managers and their senior staff to help prioritise tasks and determine what is possible at the time within their home.
Previous experience in a similar role is desired but not essential; but you are required to have at least a years’ experience in joinery, carpentry and general maintenance. On top of this, awareness and understanding of PPE, asbestos and regulatory bodies is desired. If you are able to showcase your experience and knowledge as part of your application it will add strength to your submission.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the maintenance of services is consistently at a high standard
- Ensuring that the services exterior is maintained to include, gardening, painting, general tidiness, basic repairs, etc
- To carry out any internal decorating to a high standard
- General repairs to be completed to a high standard
- Supervision of external contractors when required
- Respond to emergency maintenance as and when it arises including boarding up windows, replacing locks, etc
- To assist the operational staff where required / directed to do so to move furniture, etc
- Manage allocated monthly spend
- Working quickly and effectively within given timescales
- Carpentry, i.e. door hanging, frame fitting, putting up shelves, boarding up windows, doors and minor furniture repairs
- Minor plumbing repairs i.e. replacing taps, repair minor leaks, replacement of TRVs, etc
- The ability to prioritise allocated maintenance requests
- Maintain the company van as per the Fleet policy (not to be used for personal use)
- To complete Trackplan timesheets, document materials used and update daily
- To maintain tools (to be provided) and ensure that the inventory is maintained
- To attend training courses, meetings, etc when required
