Keys Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Future Focused Mentor to support vulnerable children and young people to overcome challenges, re-engage with education, and thrive.
This role involves delivering tailored interventions in community and educational settings, working closely with young people, families, and professionals to create bespoke pathways that promote positive outcomes and wellbeing.
The Role
- Support young people in building self-esteem, confidence, and resilience
- Deliver sessions on topics such as healthy relationships, online safety, and county lines awareness
- Use creative and engaging approaches to help young people manage risks effectively
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, families, and multi-agency professionals
- Deliver high-quality, tailored interventions addressing vulnerabilities such as exploitation and gang involvement
- Maintain accurate records and produce detailed reports for professionals
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative solutions and strategies
- Support pathways that enable young people to return to education and achieve their full potential
- Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure all work is compliant with current legislation
Working Pattern:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30am – 17:00pm
This is a term-time position, working 40 weeks per year (39+1)
Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent Level 2 qualifications)
- Experience working with vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of exploitation or involved in the criminal justice system
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of procedures
- Proven ability to build professional, supportive relationships
Desirable
- Experience in alternative education settings or working outside traditional school environments
- Experience delivering training or guidance to colleagues
Key Skills and Attributes
- Resilient, calm, and professional under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of SEND, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour management strategies
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (with business insurance and breakdown cover)
- Flexibility to travel and work non-standard hours when required
- Ability to support young people across West Northamptonshire
