Engage Mentor – Flexible (September Start)

Pay: £15 – £25 per hour
Location: West Northamptonshire – community and educational settings
Working pattern: Flexible, term-time only. Self-employed with a minimum of 2 days per week (up to 5 days depending on availability).

We are seeking Engage Mentors to deliver targeted interventions that support engagement, wellbeing, and re-entry into education. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people overcome barriers, build resilience, and make safer, more positive life choices.

 

About the Role

  • Deliver engaging, one-to-one interventions in community and educational settings
  • Support young people to build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience
  • Deliver sessions on topics such as healthy relationships, online safety, and county lines awareness
  • Use creative and tailored approaches to help manage risk and encourage positive decision-making
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and their families
  • Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and produce detailed professional reports
  • Support pathways that enable young people to re-engage with education
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure all work is compliant with current legislation

 

Who We Support

You will work with young people who may be:

  • At risk of exploitation or criminal involvement
  • Disengaged from education
  • Vulnerable to unsafe relationships or environments
  • Involved with, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system

Requirements

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
  • Experience supporting those at risk of exploitation or criminal involvement
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of procedures

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Resilient, calm, and professional under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of SEND, trauma-informed practice, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (with business insurance)
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across West Northamptonshire
