Job Title: Children’s Residential Support Worker - Learning Disabilities

Location: Hayling Island

Salary: £26,364 - £27,783 per year PLUS additional £3,000-£6,000 per year for sleep-ins

Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week working a rolling shift pattern, 2 on 4 off.

Full UK Driving Licence is required

We are looking for a new team of dedicated children's support workers to become part of our brand new family home, caring for children and young people who have complex needs, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioural difficulties. You would be the person to give encouragement and praise when needed, to be patient and understanding during times of crisis and to inspire them to grow and develop.

We want to create a safe haven where every child's potential shines bright, you'll be the beacon of hope, providing unwavering support to our young champions.

The role can be emotionally challenging and you could be handling difficult situations BUT you could be the person to change a child's life for the better.

What does the job involve?

  • Be part of a caring team that provides a safe and loving home for children, led and supported by a registered manager.
  • Act as a professional parent, to to give encouragement and praise.
  • A level of personal care will be required according to the child's needs.
  • Provide emotional and physical support to allow the children to reach their full potential in sometimes challenging situations
  • Build friendships and trusting relationships
  • Help them to find pleasure in everyday tasks
  • Empower them to make decisions about themselves
  • Ensure a safe home environment, cleaning, laundry, cooking is part of the job.

What do you need?

  • We want people who are naturally caring, flexible and resilient.
  • Passionate about supporting children to lead happy lives.
  • Great communication skills, positive and energetic.
  • Experience in care or transferable skills such as children's nursery, education, sports or working with vulnerable people is beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to remain calm during sometimes challenging situations.
  • Full UK Driving licence is essential.
  • You need to be able to work flexibly in caring for the children. This will include working shifts and sleep-ins
