Make 2026 the year you do work that genuinely matters.
Our children’s home in Tavistock, rated Outstanding by Ofsted four times consequently, is looking for a Residential Care Worker to join a settled, experienced, and values led team.
We are an active, outdoors focused home, located on the edge of Dartmoor near Tavistock. Walking, exploring, physical activity, and shared experiences in nature are used intentionally to support, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
We support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties who present with complex needs. This is an EBD home, and while the work can be emotionally demanding at times, it is also purposeful, relational, and highly rewarding.
You will be joining a motivated and focused home that values consistency, reflection, and therapeutic thinking. We are looking for someone career minded, active, and emotionally resilient who wants to develop within residential childcare not “just work shifts”.
The role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will be part of a family style team that provides the kind of home, experiences, and everyday life that every child deserves.
This role is about creating a safe, stable, and active environment where children can experience routine, shared activities, time outdoors, and a genuine sense of belonging. You will support children to engage in day to day life, enjoy positive experiences, and gradually build confidence, independence, and trust through consistent relationships.
The role involves:
• Creating a warm, structured, and nurturing home environment
• Supporting children to access ordinary childhood experiences and an active lifestyle
• Encouraging routine, responsibility, and independence
• Spending time outdoors and engaging in shared activities
• Working reflectively and therapeutically as part of a consistent team
• Providing calm, attuned support during more challenging moments
What we are looking for
We are looking for people who:
• Are emotionally resilient and reflective
• Communicate clearly and positively
• Bring energy, warmth, and consistency to their practice
• Can remain calm and thoughtful under pressure
• Are able to work flexibly, including shifts and sleep-ins
• Hold a full UK driving licence
Experience in residential childcare is welcomed but not essential. Values, mindset, and willingness to learn are key.
What we offer
• Competitive pay
• Uplifted Sleep-in allowance of £78.30 per night
• Fully funded training and externally accredited qualifications
• Strong in-house management support
• A stable team and a home with a clear identity and vision
• Genuine opportunities for development and progression
