Associate Headteacher
Package Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic committed professional to join us as an Associate Headteacher
The successful candidate will:
- Provide effective management and leadership of the school on a day-to-day basis
- Work with the Executive Headteacher, manage HR and other leadership processes for all staff within the school
- Lead and support the school with a focus on school improvement and the independent school standards
- Ensure a consistent approach to standards of behaviour, safeguarding, attendance and punctuality are implemented across the school
- Take full responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of children within the school
- Promote positive relationships with all stakeholders including parents and external agencies
- Coordinate and manage the personal and professional development of all staff within the school
- Manage and effectively deploy Teaching Assistants within the school to support learning and welfare across the school
- Deputise for the Executive Headteacher where appropriate
- Lead regular reviews of all school systems to ensure statutory requirements are being met and improved on where appropriate
- Being a champion of inclusion and leading all colleagues to support children in an independent educational setting
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Have a proven track record of school improvement and leadership.
- Are currently working as a Senior Leader looking for their next challenge.
- Have extensive understanding of the OFSTED framework and independent school standards.
- Can demonstrate leadership on safeguarding, curriculum planning and staff management.
- Are exceptional practitioners capable of improving the teaching and learning across a school.
- Are leaders in behaviour management and can implement good behaviour standards across the whole school setting.
- Have a thorough understanding of the SEND code of practice and supporting students with SEND.
- Can evidence a working understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Somerset Progressive School prides itself on being very unique. Both sites are set in rural locations on the outskirts of Taunton. Each site offers an attractive and stimulating learning environment, combining specialised teaching facilities with local resources. There is a high staff to pupil ratio with most receiving 1:1 tuition or working in small groups. Pupils are encouraged to work alongside others and co-operatively in pairs and small groups, as the development of social skills and independent work strategies are vital.
