About our school
New Ways School is an Outstanding Independent SEN School, in South Birmingham, and caters for 11-17 year olds who have special education needs relating mainly to Autism.
The school offers an environment that is safe and low sensory alongside an ambitious curriculum which includes a suite of GCSEs and enrichment opportunities to ensure students achieve the very best outcomes possible and are fully prepared for their transition in to Further education, employment, training and adulthood.
New Ways College is an additional site for New Ways School opening in Spring 2024. The new Associate Headteacher will be strategically responsible for the day to day running of New Ways College, under the direction of the Executive Headteacher.
Overview of the role of Associate Headteacher :
- Be an active participant of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lead by example, holding and articulating clear values and moral purpose, and focusing on providing excellent education for all pupils.
- Assist the Executive Headteacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school.
- Support and/or represent the Executive Headteacher at meetings as and when required.
- To work in partnership with other school leaders and the Executive Headteacher, challenging ideas of one another, holding each other to account in a spirit of collaboration and striving for highest professional standards.
- Be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement.
- Manage staff and resources within the school.
- Take responsibility for the communication of matters to the Executive Headteacher in a timely and solution focused way.
- Play a major role, under the overall direction of the Executive Headteacher, in formulating, implementing and reviewing the School Development Plan.
- Deputy Designated Safeguarding lead.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the daily functioning of the school in education matters.
- In line with the Executive Headteacher, take responsibility for all financial and Health and Safety matters in the school.
- To promote inclusion across the school collaborating on initiatives such as The Rainbow Flag Award.
